Summer Pantry Checklist

When you spend your summer living in a remote location, a well-stocked pantry is a must.

After a season spent off-the grid, this is my must-have starter Summer Pantry Checklist to help you whip up delicious meals all summer long.

Oil & Vinegars

  • EVOO – I use extra virgin olive oil every day. I just love it. For authentic EVOO, buy from a farmer or grower you trust!
  • Canola Oil – It has a high smoke point and you will need it when frying or making homemade popcorn.
  • Vinegars – Red and/or White wine, Cider, Balsamic, Rice and White Vinegar
  • Soy Sauce
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Nice to have: Sweet Chili Sauce, Chipotle Sauce

Spices

  • Salts – Sea salt and Herbs de Provence
  • Black Peppercorns
  • Ground Cumin
  • Italian seasoning
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Crushed Red Pepper
  • Chili Powder
  • Dried Mint Flakes
  • Garlic Powder
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Ground Nutmeg
  • Ground Ginger
  • Bay leaf
  • Bouillon Cubes

Baking

  • All Purpose Flour
  • Italian 00 Flour or Pizza Flour
  • Cornstarch
  • Light Brown Sugar
  • Cane or Granulated Sugar
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Baking Powder
  • Baking Soda
  • Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Cornmeal
  • Panko Crumbs
  • Rolled Oats
  • Dried Coconut
  • Dried Fruit such as raisins
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • High Quality Chocolate Chips (Semi-sweet & Dark) – I like Ghiradelli.
  • Organic Honey
  • Earth Balance Shortening
  • Yeast
  • Lots of Butter (Salted & Unsalted)
  • Maple Syrup

Grains & Canned Goods

  • Chickpeas (a lot of them!)
  • Black Beans and Navy Beans
  • Coconut milk
  • Tuna fish
  • Diced Tomatoes
  • Tomato Paste
  • Tomato Puree (smooth, no seeds)
  • Pizza Sauce in a pinch (I like Muutu)
  • Quinoa
  • Couscous or Farro
  • Dried Pasta – Angel Hair, Orzo, & Rigatoni
  • Chicken or Vegetable Broth
  • Rice – Brown or White
  • Tahini
  • Pesto

Dairy

  • Feta
  • A large block of Mozzarella
  • Block of Parano Gouda
  • Parmesan
  • Cheddar
  • Havarti Slices
  • Spreadable Goat Cheese
  • Greek or Plain Yogurt
  • Whipping Cream
  • Buttermilk
  • 1/2 & 1/2

Condiments

  • Ketchup, Mustard & Mayo
